Mamey Plants change leaves in the winter months

Write an article with pictures.

Mamey trees (Pouteria sapota) are evergreen trees, which means they do not lose all their leaves at once like deciduous trees.

Instead, they shed their leaves gradually throughout the year and continuously produce new leaves.

In South Florida, Mamey trees start shedding their leaves typically December and the process may last thru May.

If you notice that your mamey tree leaves are turning brown and slowly dropping, this is typically normal.
This happens before new leaves emerge.
