My avocado tree has lost most or all of its leaves... what should I do?

The avocado tree is categorized as an evergreen, although certain types shed their leaves briefly before and during blooming. The tree's canopy varies from a compact, symmetrical low range to an upright and asymmetrical one. Its branches are prone to breaking under the pressure of strong winds or a bountiful harvest.

Your avocado tree may shed all or most of its leaves once a year; this is a normal occurrence.

Do not overwater your avocado tree, as this may cause root rot, loss of leaves and eventually the tree may not survive.

Continue to nurse your tree and follow the other recommendations posted in our Help Desk.
